THE BAND

Faux Fighters - In Their Honour"I'm f*cked if I'm gonna wait another two or three years to see the Foos play NZ again..we should get out there and do it ourselves?"

With this petulent outburst from Al "The Bassman", the seeds were sown and Faux Fighters - In Their Honour was born.

Following 20 years of playing semi-professionally and touring most of the Western World, both he and Bruce "Boom" McG bumped into each other in Nelson around the end of 2006 and began jamming immediately. A common love of all things Foos came across very loud and proud and that very evening Al uttered those now immortal lines. They needed a name that made it very clear who they were and what they did. Once again it was Al who proudly announced that he had the perfect name for them and McG could've kissed him for that. However, he didn't.

Faux (pronounced 'foe' - adjective meaning not genuine or real; being an imitation of the genuine article) and Fighters. 'Nuff said. A winner.

Faux Fighters - Fauxkin' perfect!!

No one remembers for sure how it happened, but they somehow found themselves standing in front of an enormous amp, being bludgeoned by the 50-fingered, Afro'd madness of "The Chaos". Next thing they knew, he was in the band and the fun really started. For those of you who don't play guitar, you may not be aware that Dave and Chris are fond of using some rather interesting and scary chords to create the awesome sound of the Foos; "Dave 7th Diminished" being one of our favourites. "Chaos" somehow manages to seek out these wonders and make them his own. He's a freak and that's that.

So, with three rabid Foos fanatics chomping at the bit, the Faux's sound was really sharpening.

Even though he may have seen more Birthdays than Taylor and is about a foot taller, McG is doing a fine job of matching him blow for blow when it comes to drum thunder. It's a f*ckin' tough job wearing both Dave and Taylor's shoes but someone has to do it and he's definitely their man. Awesome.

"Chaos" was born to play Chris' masterful brushstrokes and somehow manages to nail that sound of his... Loon.

Al may make Nate look like Brad Pitt (you cheeky bastard! - Al), but there's only one man they want pinning it all together with a rock-solid, fat and liquid thunder at the back of it all. He lives and breathes the Foos and quite simply gives bass players a good name. Legend.

All the body parts were in place with the exception of the most vital organ...a Dave. How the f*ck do they find someone who can sing like Dave, scream like Dave and play geetar like Dave? They were having so much fun playing the music that they'd almost overlooked what a huge ask this was.

There will never be another Dave - end of story. However; there was a Sam and they found him. He plugged in, opened his tubes, and f*ck me...here was their Dave!! Awesome voice, great geetar and a face that didn't scare children. Score!!

From that night, the Fauxs have sweated pure Foos so that they can bring you the most high energy Foos show you'll ever see, without actually watching Dave, Taylor, Chris and Nate burn on stage.

Faux Fighters - In Their Honour. See you there...
